To: SMGR Users Bulletin: 12 From: Neal Rhodes /MNOP Ltd Subject: SMGR running under V 7.3 There are several cosmetic glitches when using SMGR via 7.3 Progress. ISSUES WE HAVE CORRECTED ARE: 1. The first use of SMGR wipes out the horizontal line below the Progress Menu and never restores it. 2. Compare diff output seems to intermingle with the dialogue window. This can look really crappy. This has been remedied by doing a HIDE ALL before the unix command, but WHY should this be needed? It seems to be another bug in character mode Progress. 3. When F3 is pressed on the screen after a file is loaded into the editor, the text of this file is visible to whatever extent you can see around the SMGR windows. This may or may not be deemed to be a bug, depending on your opinion. 4. The 7.3 prodb no longer allows a database named smgr.db to be created if a directory named smgr already exists. Therefore, our blddemo temporarily moves the smgr subdirectoryt, does the prodb, then moves it back. Sheesh. ISSUES WE HAVE NOT FULLY RESOLVED ARE: 5. Exiting an SMGR subfunction and returning to the menu does not necessarily cause the window to blank. The window will blank IF there is data in the edit buffer on screen. However, if no buffer is opened, under some as yet unspecified situations the window remains there. This can get confusing. We are not sure if changes for issues 1 and 2 above have dealt with this or not. If might be that proper resolution will require the addition of explicit hide frame statements to all modules. Affected sources: stcomex.i: 1.4 added hide all before diff. Seems to keep V7 happier. smdmenus.i: 1.2 took out Utils entry, reworded smdtrigs.i: 1.4 hides and views menu bar frame to clean up display. smdmnbar.i: 1.3 removed utils options smgrmen4.i: 1.3 smgrmen3.i: 1.2 smgrmen2.i: 1.2 blddemo: 1.10 move smgr subdir around so prodb works on 7.3
