When relief came, she was the fourth child of her parents to die of the same disease. This blow falls heavily upon a household frequently bereft. The promised bride is claimed by the Lover of all souls.

Sullivan, this community has lost one of its oldest and most honored citizens, Mrs. LYDIA CHILCOTT, widow of the late George Chilcott, at the advanced age of 83. She was in word and deed a truly Christian woman, a kind friend to poor and needy, charitable to the erring, and beloved by all as the large crowd in attendance at her funeral testified. In addition to a large family of her own, she has brought up several homeless children.

Resolutions passed by the Tremont Lodge on the deaths of SAMUEL NORWOOD and SIMEON M. MARSHALL ----

[WHEREAS portion unreadable]

RESOLVED that the high estimation in which they were held by the members of this lodge and the community at large reminds us that we have sustained a great loss, and while we shall miss them in our councils and in private walks of life, may we endeavor to imitate their virtues and walk upright before God and man,

RESOLVED that this event should admonish us that our pilgrimage here must soon end, and that we should prepare ourselves by the labors of love and good works to join our brothers in that great spiritual temple above, when all good Masons hope at last to meet,

RESOLVED that we tender our warmest sympathies to the bereaved families of our deceased brothers in their hour of grief and sadness, and kindly commend them to the merciful care of our heavenly Father who has promised to be the widow's God and Father to the fatherless.

Bucksport, 11th inst., MARY B., daughter of Ambrose and Sarah A. WHITE, age 6 years, 2 months.

Obituary: On last Tuesday, April 1, occurred the death and one of the oldest and best known citizens of Stoneham, Mr. ROBERT GERRY, at the great age of nearly 90 years. His profession was that of a practical surveyor, although he had followed school teaching for a considerable part of his life, having had charge of one single school for 24 years. Mr. Gerry was not a religious man in the common acceptance of the term. He believed that men were to be judged by their actions rather than professions. He despised religious sectarian distinctions, considering them to be the cause of much, if not the greater part, of the strain and enmity in the world. Having little sympathy for the sects, the sects had still less for him, and some of their straightest members were disposed to ignore all his claims and rights to be considered a member of society in good and regular standing.

Waltham, May 2, advanced to spirit life, Mrs. LOVINA MOORE of Ellsworth, spirit medium, age 47 years, 6 months, 20 days.

WHEREAS through the interposition of an unchangeable law our beloved sister and friend, Lovina Moore, has been removed from us by a change called death, therefore, we, the friends of the deceased, through sincere sorrow for our irreparable loss, cheerfully

RESOLVE that, in the life and character of our sister, we find much worthy of pattern and imitation. Hers was indeed a life of unselfish disinterestedness. She lived to do good and to bless the world for having lived in it. Though frail by nature, her spirit was ever keenly alive to accomplish something beneficial for humanity. To the sick and afflicted, she was a ministering angel, and many have been healed by her wonderful gift of bidding disease depart! Through her physical organization, immortality has been demonstrated and the solution of a problem of a future life proved and verified more clearly and satisfactorily than any other agency known to mankind outside the spirit control. For the last 16 or 17 years she was much under the control of spirit power, and her life was devoted to its claims. She lectured and doctored in almost every neighborhood in this entire community, and she leaves many strong and tried friends behind to mourn the loss of her presence and counsel. To those of her near and dear friends would we especially invoke her spirit presence, to heal the aching wounds of affliction while striving to be reconciled to the change it has made in the home circle. Although deep dark clouds hang over their vision, may they still remember that beyond the darkness and the clouds there is sunshine and light sufficient to dispel the darkness of sorrow and death in the hope and belief of an immortal resurrection in a future life with those gone before. May the same guiding star of truth illuminate our pathway over the journey of life that has hitherto shown upon hers and our lives, like hers, valuable to the world.

Resolutions: WHEREAS it has pleased our Heavenly Father to remove by death from the communion and fellowship of this church, Deacon BENJAMIN STEVENS, who, by a long life of faithful labor in the Church of Christ, has exemplified very fully the teaching and principles of the Gospel of Christ, therefore,

RESOLVED that, in this time of our affliction, we will not question the wisdom nor the love of God in his dealings toward us as a church, but trusting in his grace we will strive to labor with renewed diligence and faithfulness in the church of which we are members, endeavoring to show our vital union to Christ by "godly lives and well ordered conversation," in praying that the great Head of the church will bless to this community the great loss which we now experience.

RESOLVED that to the family of the departed in this hour of their sorrow we tender the loving sympathy of our hearts and commend them to Him who invites them to his mercy seat in this season of their affliction, that they may find grace and strength to help in this time of need.

Signed - H. H. Osgood, Church Clerk
