His funeral services were held at the church at Goose Cove on Sunday, Oct. 21, where a large number of his friends and fellow citizens assembled. Mr. Haynes experienced religion some 40 years ago, was among the first to organize into a Methodist society in Trenton. His house was always the welcome home of God's ministers of all Christian orders. He was a Methodist, but not a bigot. He was a honest Democrat of the Jackson type all his life, and a patron of the Eastern Argus from its first issue until his death. May God bless and comfort the widow in the loss she sustains in the death of a kind husband with whom she has so happily spent 60 years of married life.
