The Doraville Dance Schedule

For several years we were please to be able to offer a family barn dance and an evening adult dance at Winters Chapel. After Sept 11, 2001, we were not able to obtain or maintain enough people attending to make this a viable dance. The callers were available, the musicians were available, the facility was perfect. As of July of 2002, this dance is on an indefinate hiatus. We remain interested in reviving it, should we find sufficient people to come. Contact us via the email addresses below if you like.

Join us 3rd Saturdays 8-11 pm, Winters Chapel United Methodist Church, Doraville for the Doraville Area Contra and Square Dance. We are located in the Metro Atlanta Area in the I-85 North corridor just outside I-285. This is a casual, family inclusive dance with a usual attendance of 25-50. Live traditional music is provided by a variety of string bands.

We now have a family dance especially geared towards young dancers and new dancers starting at 7pm. This will lead into the regular dance at 8pm, and families are encourage to come for one or both. While there are no strict age minimums the family dance is for people big/alert enough not to get stepped on, and mature enough to listen, cooperate, and follow the caller's lead. Directions-- Winters Chapel United Methodist Church, 5105 Winters Chapel Road, Doraville 30060. Click HERE to see the updated map. From I-285 northside, take the Peachtree Industrial Blvd North exit. From Peachtree Industrial, Take the Winters Chapel Road exit and turn left onto Winters Chapel. Reach the Church on the right after traveling about 1.5 miles (just past the Peeler Road intersection). We are about 3 miles from the Doraville MARTA Station. Things to Remember

Come a little early for basic instruction. (Unless you come to the Family dance, in which case you just need to review that Right/Left thing.)
Dancers of all ability levels (including those with no experience) are welcome.
Bring an exta pair of clean, soft soled shoes for dancing. Shoes which don't slide can be hard on your knees. Muddy shoes grind the finish off the wood floor; then we can't use the hall anymore.
Families with children too small to dance are encouraged to come with another family they know and trade off minding the toddlers.
Suggested donation for the entire evening is $5 ($10 max. per family). For just the family portion $3 per family.
Dress is casual and comfortable.
You do NOT need to bring a partner. It is customary to switch partners during the evening.
